Junior League of Wichita Partners with Family Promise
Junior League of Wichita committed $50,000 and volunteer leadership to support Family Promise of Greater Wichita in launching a new program that aims to stabilize families who are at risk for homelessness. “It is a big challenge for many families to remain in housing, even after they obtain temporary shelter and help with immediate needs. Without continued support, coaching and mentorship, families are still living paycheck to paycheck and are only one more crisis away from plummeting back into homelessness,” said Stacia Thompson, Executive Director of Family Promise of Greater Wichita.
The new Stabilization Program, a successful model that has been implemented in other communities, is designed to provide homeless families with an opportunity to receive ongoing case management and support with obtaining long-term housing, employment, counseling, and a variety of other life skills. Families will also build savings and work towards financial stability.
